Barossa Shiraz
2020
Barossa Shiraz
Over several generations, our family has been fortunate to develop valued and longstanding relationships with people within and related to the wine industry.
These individuals share our passion and our table, and it is these moments of coming together and sharing the joy of wine that led us to honour them by naming our core group of wines the Kith Range.
Tasting Notes
Reby red, with lifted aromas of chocolate-coated raspberry licorice, nutmeg, cheesecake and underlying smokey, toasty oak. Displaying characteristics seen in many Shiraz dominant wines from the region from the exceptional 2020 vintage. The palate is rich and bold with its fruit and chocolate flavours however the tannin levels are subdued, leaving the palate with a sense of roundness ready for consumption. The flavours of milk chocolate and sweet spice linger long on the palate.
Style
Fruit-driven but approachable style with generous Barossan fruit.
Region
Sourced from both our own and grower vineyards across southern and central Barossa which allows us to deliver consistency in style.
Vintage Summary
The 2020 vintage will be known for its contrasting weather patterns, from cold spring nights and a hot, dry summer. Below average yields across all red varieties but exceptional colour and flavour in key Barossa varieties.
Maturation
Half the wine was aged in oak for 10 months, and the other aged for 18 months. Predominately American oak barrels with about 30% French oak. Only a small percentage of new oak is used in this blend to ensure the vibrancy of the fruit is retained.
Cellaring
Drink now – 3 years.
