Story

Grant Burge is a passionate amateur war historian, with interest spurred by his forebears who fought in two World Wars. This wine honours not just this history and passion, but also Grant’s own historic winemaking career. Trent and Amelia have created The Brigadier Cabernet Sauvignon for their father Grant, who led the industry in determining the ideal Barossan microclimate for this variety.

Style

True cool climate Cabernet Sauvignon; ripe dark fruits and fine tannins.

Region

Sourced from our family-owned Corryton Burge vineyard in the Eden Valley where the cool microclimate is ideal for growing premium Cabernet Sauvignon.

Tasting Note

Vibrant black fruit and cassis aromas are layered with hints of spice, chocolate and leather. Refined dark berry and cassis flavours give way to rich creamy mid-palate and fine tannins.

Maturation

After completing malolactic fermentation in the barrel the wine then remained in oak for a total of 22 months. 100% French oak, 25% of which was new.

Cellaring

Drinking best 10-15 years.

Food Pairing

Pair with roasted leg of lamb wrapped in rosemary with twice cooked potatoes and an ancient grain salad.
