The Patroness Chardonnay
2021
The Patroness Chardonnay
Mother, wife and business partner, our Grandmother Ethel Nancy epitomised the essence of family and community. As a community nurse, volunteer, local sports and committee member she instilled in us the value of being a patron in your community. This wine is named in her honour.
Tasting Notes
Striking aromas of cashew and peach open up to a palate of white peach and stone fruit. There is a subtle creaminess with toasty oak supported by a mineral acid line maintaining freshness and complexity, the palate finishes with hints of biscuit and oyster shell and a touch of flint.
Style
Classic Adelaide Hills Chardonnay, with elegance and structure.
Region
Sourced from the Porter family, our long-term grower in the Adelaide Hills.
Vintage Summary
The 2021 vintage was outstanding in many ways. Excellent growing conditions and a mild summer led to perfect ripening across most varieties. These conditions have resulted in delicate flavours for white wines with pristine varietal characters and beautiful natural acidity. Overall a high-yielding vintage with high-quality fruit.
Maturation
Matured in a mix of new and used oak for 6 months. Weekly battonage helped create a full and creamy mouthfeel and balance out acidity.
Cellaring
Drinking best 1-5 years.
